A Project Management Success Story.  (Technical PM .5 and Leadership .5)

    Presented by Walter Viali

The Doolittle Raid, on 18 April 1942, was the first air raid by the United States to strike the heart of Japan during World War II.   By demonstrating that Japan itself was vulnerable to American air attack, it provided a vital morale boost and an opportunity for U.S. retaliation after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941.   As the events are analyzed using the Knowledge Areas of the PMBOK® Guide, there are many reasons to conclude that the Doolittle Raid had a major impact on the outcome of the war in the Pacific and, in spite of the many challenges and problems it encountered, it  was undoubtedly a true project management success story.
